Scribus is a free, open source, professional layout and publishing program. Think of a word processor on steroids. It provides true desktop publishing that will help you assemble your words and images and output everything you need for a commercial printer, magazine publisher, etc., including color separations (look it up).
My primary objective is electronic, not print, publishing. Even so, I found Scribus to be an ideal WYSIWIG tool for cover design. Down the road, it should be great for brochures and ads. BTW, did I mention, it’s FREE? Get it.
I intend to list free and low-cost training resources for each software package. This will come eventually, but if I wait until everything is complete, I’ll never go live with this blog.
In the meantime, please include your favorite training resources in your comments.
