Open Office is yet another incredible, and free, open source suite of computer tools for content creation. It includes Writer – a full-featured word processor, Calc – versatile spread sheet, Impress – an ellegant presentation program, Draw – an excellent graphics creator, and Base – a powerful, SQL capable, database manipulator.
In addition, Open Office can import and export documents in nearly every applicable format, commercial or otherwise. In my view, this is a must-have set of tools for any serious computerphile.
I intend to list free and low-cost training resources for each software package. This will come eventually, but if I wait until everything is complete, I’ll never go live with this blog.
